Eco Church

We are an Eco Church with a Silver Award - and we are now aiming for our Gold Award.
The Eco Church awards help us as a church to work within a framework to act to care for God's Creation.
We are looking at 5 areas to improve sustainability and care for the environment:
-
Worship and teaching
-
Buildings and energy
-
Land and nature
-
Community and global engagement
-
Lifestyle
How you can get involved:
-
Join the St. Luke's Eco group
We are an inclusive and welcoming group of passionate people who are about the environment.
Contact Rev Juliet to find out how to join us.

We are creating natural opportunities to enhance the biodiversity, exploration and education of the space. We have some wild areas and some cultivated garden space - we've also begun a community orchard - come and help us water our lovely new fruit trees.
We hope to get our community herb garden planted soon and we have an amazing seed library for you to interact with.
We hope to find the most fun ways to lower our carbon footprint as we aim to become Net Zero Carbon householders - how can we buy less, reuse more, recycle everything you are able to?
Try taking small steps for change - why not try going greener for Lent
Find out more about the science behind climate change and empower yourself and others to act.
Add your voice to a campaign - see our board in church for more information.
Help assess the status of wildlife - RSPB wildlife surveys are simple and fun to do.
The Big Butterfly count is happening between 17th July and August 9th 2026 - join us by submitting invaluable data to help ascertain how well our butterflies are doing.
Worship outside with us as we find God's imprint in Creation. Our next worship outdoors is with Churches Together - join us for our Pentecost Party 24th May at 4pm in the park if the weather is fine and at Eltham Baptists if the weather isn't so good. We will enjoy music and international food and our shared open spaces and worship God our Creator together.
If you are not sure where to start but want to help look after God's creation consider donating to a charity which works to look after our environment.
For example Target 25 which aims to protect the most vulnerable species in the UK.
